YAKIMA — Three Port Angeles High School basketball teams played in the Camp Classic Tournament at Eisenhower High School in Yakima, with the Roughriders varsity team repeating as the tournament champions.
The varsity Roughriders beat 4A Eastmont from Wenatchee 58-46 in the title game, getting 20 points from Kyle Benedict and 18 from Garrett Edwards.
The Roughriders also beat Olympic League rival Olympic High School 75-40 in the semifinals, with Payton Schmidt scoring 24 and Liam Clark adding 16.
The Riders also went 5-1, losing only to Eastmont 64-61. They beat Yakima City 75-52, Castle Rock 73-40, Eisenhower 68-46, Grandview 70-51.
The Riders squads conclude their summer season with a home tournament in Port Angeles on Saturday and Sunday. Teams from Froks, Bremerton, Kingston and Tenino will attend, as well as a Port Angeles alumni team featuring recent stars such as Grayson Peet, Luke Angevine, Noah McGoff and Lambros Rogers.
Lefties lose 7-1
CORVALLIS — The high-powered Lefties lineup couldn’t muster much offense, managing just six hits in a 7-1 loss to Corvallis.
The Lefties came in to Sunday’s game leading the West Coast League in runs scored (241 in 36 games for an average of 6.7 runs per game), but got just a triple from Drew Minter and five singles scattered through the lineup.
Tyler Oldenberg took the loss, going 5 2/3 innings and giving up 5 earned runs on nine hits. He struck out two and walked one. Thomas Ruwe went the final 2 1/3, going up two hits, one earned run and striking out two while walking two.
The Lefties are off until Wednesday for the All-Star break, with the All-Star Game being held at 6:30 p.m. today at Civic Field. The Lefties travel to Yakima to play the Pippins at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday.

Bob Cup
SEQUIM — Created in memory of long-time Sequim resident Bob Duncan, registration is open for the third annual Bob Cup Golf Tournament, raising funds for the creation of “Mosaic House,” a permanent location for Clallam Mosaic, a local nonprofit celebrating 20 years of empowering individuals with special needs.
The tournament will be held July 28 at The Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course.
Cost is $100 per player and includes a barbecue lunch. Tickets for the barbecue only are $20 with advance registration, and $25 at the door. Alaska Airlines has donated two round-trip airline tickets to anywhere the airline flies, excluding Cuba. The tickets will be auctioned live during the lunch.

MGI Tryouts
PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles MGI U14 to U18 program will hold tryouts for the 2019 tournament season from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. July 25 at Peninsula College’s Sigmar Field.
There will be a 6 p.m. meeting with parents to discuss expectations, costs and training.
