AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Roughriders’ Lily Halberg makes all-state in volleyball

OLYMPIA — Port Angeles’ Lily Halberg was named as an honorable mention on the Washington State Volleyball Coaches’ Association All-State teams.

Halberg was named to the team as a libero/defensive specialist.

“This is a huge honor and recognizes Lily’s hard work, dedication and determination toward meeting her personal and professional goals,” said Port Angeles coach Jennifer Reynolds.

Playing libero, Halberg had 257 digs for the Roughriders for an average of 17.1 digs per game. She also had 289 service receives for an average of 19.3 per game. She only had 24 service receive errors all season.

Also making the honorable mention team out of the Olympic 2A League were North Kitsap’s Maddie Pryde as a middle blocker, Lily Pruden as a outside hitter and Sophie Baugh as a setter.

Neah Bay, which qualified for the 1B state volleyball tournament, placed three girls on 1B all-state teams. Ocean Aguirre made the second team as an outside hitter, while Ryana Moss was an honorable mention as a setter and Nalani Ellis an honorable mention as a libero/defensive specialist.
