Roughrider football camp begins Monday

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles Roughrider Football Camp for high school and youth players will be held at the high school Monday through Thursday.

High School players will attend from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and youth from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

The cost is $50 per child, $75 for two children and $100 for three or more.

Payment will be taken at the camp Monday.

The camp is a fundraiser for the Port Angeles High School football team.

OPRA kids place fourth

SARASOTA, Fla. — A pair of Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association rowers placed fourth in their boats in races at the CanAmMex Olympic Development Camp Summer Cup.

Zach Gavin’s U17 4-person Northwest boat finished fourth with a time of 6 minutes, 48.327 seconds, just six seconds off first place.

Ella Ventura’s U18 4-person Northwest women’s boat finished fourth with a time of 7:45.262, about 13 seconds off of first.

Rider volleyball camp

PORT ANGELES — A Roughrider Volleyball Camp for those entering kindergarten through ninth grade will be held at the high school from Monday through Wednesday.

Kids entering sixth through ninth grade will attend from 9 a.m. to noon and those entering kindergarten through fifth grade will attend from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The cost is $50 and scholarship assistance is available.

Free boys tennis camp

PORT ANGELES — A free boys tennis camp will be offered by Port Angeles High School boys tennis coach Brian Gundersen from Monday through Friday.

The camp will be broken into two different sessions: 9 a.m. to 11 am for boys that are interested in joining the team (incoming freshman or older students new to the sport) and an 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. session for returning players from last year.

Players that attend should bring water, comfortable shoes and a tennis racket.

Rackets will be provided for those without one.

Youth soccer camp

PORT ANGELES — A youth soccer camp for ages 3-12 will be held at Volunteer Field practice field Monday through Friday.

Tiny Tykes (ages 3 and 4) will attend from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tiny Tykes registration is $92.

Ages 4 through 6 will attend from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The cost is $108.

Ages 6 through 12 will attend from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $144.

Soccer ref clinic

PORT ANGELES — A new referee clinic for potential soccer referees will be offered in July. The clinic consists of an online portion and two on-field clinics. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the field sessions.

The field sessions will be held at Wally Sigmar Field at Peninsula College from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. July 23-24.

There is a $15 clinic fee.

The clinic is not limited to youth. Adults are encouraged to become referees.
