Snipe is golden

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Retired teacher Dr. Ron Snipe of Port Angeles recently earned five gold medals (50, 100 and 200-yard breaststroke, 50 butterfly and 200 individual medley) and three silver medals (100 and 200 backstroke, 100 IM) at the New Mexico Senior Olympics.

It was Snipes’ 46th state senior olympics/games competition in the past 10 years.

“It was difficult swimming at 6,000 feet when coming from near sea level but worth the effort,” Snipe said.

Next up for Snipe is swimming at the State Games of America National Championship in Grand Rapids, Mich. Aug. 5-6. He has earned 14 national titles since 2009 in these events.
