AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Port Angeles youth bowlers and Olympic Pickleball results

MOUNT VERNON — Young bowlers Dennis Tisdale and Dillon Tisdale of Port Angeles took home big wins at two bowling tournaments this month.

Dillon, 7, placed first in the U8 boys scratch division of the while his brother, Dennis, 9, placed second in the U10 boys scratch division. The tournament was held February Saturday and Sunday at Riverside Lanes in Mount Vernon.

They both advance to the Washington State USBC Pepsi Youth Championships, which takes place April 26-27 at Triangle Bowl in Longview.

The brothers also won the doubles handicap event in the 144 and under division of the Westsound USBC Youth Championship Bowling Tournament, sponsored by Westsound USBC, held Feb. 16 at All-Star Lanes in Silverdale.

They competed against other youth bowlers from Westsound USBC, which includes bowlers from Clallam, Jefferson, Kitsap and Mason counties.

In addition to their doubles win, Dennis finished fourth and Dillon sixth in the handicap singles event, 144 and Under division.

The brothers attend Queen of Angels School. Dennis is a fourth-grader and Dillon is in the second grade.

Pickleball results

PORT ANGELES — Teams from Forks, Sequim and Port Angeles battled last weekend at Roosevelt Elementary School in Port Angeles in the Olympic Pickleball tournament.

In the men’s doubles, the Port Angeles team of Mark Pasola and Steve Bennett took gold, Tim Williams/Steve Reeves of Sequim silver and Ernest Sazon/Jhony Williams of the U.S. Coast Guard, bronze.

In the women’s doubles, Jennie Heilman/Sherry Gyovia of Port Angeles won gold, Tiffaney Issaacson/Dawyne Scarano of Sequim silver and Annie Crippen/Emily Foster of Forks bronze.

In the mixed doubles bracket A, the team of Bennett/Gyovia of Port Angeles took gold, Tim Williams/Nicole Lepping of Sequim silver and Reeves/Laura Kriese of Sequim bronze.

In the mixed doubles bracket B, Bill Truckenmiller/Sharen Warrant of Port Angeles took gold, Tony Foster/Annie Foster of Forks, silver and Pasola/Nancy Bryant of Port Angeles bronze.
