AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Port Angeles Wrestling Club registration

PORT ANGELES — In-person registration for Port Angeles Wrestling Club’s winter season will be held at the club’s new location on the second floor at 112 Lincoln St. from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday and Thursday. The club is open to boys and girls in kindergarten through eighth grade with practices held twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Registration is $80 per wrestler and includes a club T-shirt and a USA Wrestling membership card.

The season runs from Nov. 3 through Feb. 16 and includes optional weekend tournaments.

An advanced/competitive group also will meet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays. The cost is $130.

Discounts are available for families with three or more participants and scholarships also are available.

PA AAU girls basketball

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles Basketball Club will hold tryouts for girls in grades seven and eight on Tuesday and Thursday.

The tryouts will be held at Roosevelt Elementary School from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each night.

Black Diamond wins big

PORT ANGELES — Black Diamond Electrical opened the Peninsula Basketball League season with an 80-42 win over Adam Tree Service of Quilcene on Wednesday night in the Peninsula College gym.

Bryant Hoch scored 17 points, Lance Scott had 14 and Kenny Meier 13 to lead Black Diamond. Acea Sech had 18 and Josh King nine for the Quilcene men.
