Hill climb weekend at Hurricane Hill

PORT ANGELES — The Olympic Peninsula Motorcycle Club will host a Hurricane Hill hill climb Saturday and Sunday.

The events will be held at the club, 183 S. Hemlock Lane off of Deer Park Road.

Gates and sign ups open at 7 a.m. with the first bikes going up the hill at 9 a.m.

Classes include pee wee, mini and pit bikes, stock/vintage/old-timers and modified/exhibition.

Trophy class entry fees are $25, Money class are $30.

The admission fee is $10 per day with senior citizens and children younger than 10 admitted free. Overnight parking is $5 a night.

People also are urged to bring their own seating for the event.

SEATTLE — Port Angeles’ Millie Long sank the eventual game-winning free throw with seven seconds left to lift the Olympic Avalanche Black girls basketball team to the championship at the Washington Youth Sports End of Summer Shootout over the weekend.

Made up of players from Port Angeles and Sequim, Olympic Avalanche Black beat Portland Supreme, Port Angeles Storm and the Gresham Bruins twice, including 44-43 in the title game, to claim the trophy.

Sprint boat tickets

PORT ANGELES — Tickets and reserved camping spots for the upcoming sprint boat races Saturday, Sept. 7 at Extreme Sports Park are available online at www.brownpaper tickets.com.

Tickets also can be purchased in Port Angeles at Mount Pleasant IGS, Mobile Music and Lower Elwha Food & Fuel and in Sequim at Dog House Powder Coating.

Ticket prices are $25 for adults (ages 16 and older); $20 for seniors (55 and older) and the military; $15 for kids ages 6 to 15 and free for kids age 5 and under.

Pit passes are available at the event only for an additional $5.

Camping fees are $30 for Friday through Sunday and $40 for Thursday through Sunday.
