PA’s Mishler will row for Jacksonville U
PORT ANGELES — Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association rower Nathan Mishler signed a letter of intent this week to row at Jacksonville University in Florida.
His coach Debby Swinford said Mishler is interested in studying marine biologist. His choices came down to Jacksonville and Oregon State University, but he liked Jacksonville more.
“It’s quite an honor,” Swinford said.
Mishler qualified last year as a member of OPRA for the youth national rowing championships by finishing fourth at the Northwest Regional Championship Regatta.
He also won the men’s junior singles division at the American Lake Fall Classic Regatta last fall.
Mishler has only been rowing for four years, starting as a high school freshman.
His parents are Noel and Stacey Mishler of Port Angeles.
Youth hoops tourney
PORT ANGELES — The last youth basketball tournament of the year will be hosted by the city of Port Angeles Parks and Recreation Department on May 4-5.
There are divisions for boys and girls from fourth grade thru high school, with a four-game guarantee and a $250 entry fee.

Lions edge Hi-Tech
PORT ANGELES — The strong pitching of Brady Groff and Kason Albaugh lifted Lions to a 3-2 Cal Ripken baseball victory over Hi-Tech Electronics.
Rylan Politika led Lions at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a double and a triple.
Hi-Tech pitcher Josiah Gooding struck out 10 in six innings. Gooding also led Hi-Tech offensively, batting 2 for 3.
