AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Port Angeles minor leaguer profiled in FanGraphs

Run virtual marathon in support of Captain Joseph’s House Foundation

KENT — Popular baseball analytics website FanGraphs has profiled Texas Rangers minor league pitching prospect Cole Uvila, a 2012 Port Angeles High School graduate.

The profile, which dips into Uvila’s unlikely back story, can be found at tinyurl.com/PDN-UvilaBlog.

It also discusses the role that Kent’s Driveline Baseball training facility has played in his rise from junior college reserve to his status as the Rangers’ 36th-ranked prospect in their entire minor league organization.

The spin Uvila is able to put on his curveball also is discussed.

FanGraphs’ lead analyst Eric Longenhagen also said Uvila possesses “seemingly imminent big-league relevance.”
