Maddy Hinrichs starring for Lower Columbia

LONGVIEW — Port Angeles product Maddy Hinrichs earned NWAC West Region 1st Team and West Region All-Defensive Team honors as a member of the Lower Columbia Red Devils (26-3).

Hinrichs, who starred for the Roughriders and graduated from Port Angeles in 2014, averaged 10 points, 3.6 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game for the division champs.

Hinrichs and Lower Columbia and a 1 seed at the NWAC Women’s Basketball Tourney which opens Saturday.

St. Patrick’s Day run

PORT ANGELES — The Saint Patrick’s Day 5K Fun Run/Walk will be hosted by the Port Angeles Parks and Recreation Department at City Pier at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 18.

T-shirts are available to those who register by today.

Prizes will be awarded for the best wearing of the green.

The cost is $25 per adult and $15 for ages 18 and younger.

Registration forms are available at the Parks and Recreation office inside the Vern Burton Center, 308 E. Fourth St.

April Fools’ hoops

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles Parks and Recreation will host the April Fools’ Extravaganza, a youth basketbal ltourney for boys and girls teams from fourth grade through high school.

A four-game guarantee is included with the $250 entry fee

Joyce hoops tourney

JOYCE — At least one more team is needed for the second annual Logger Men’s Basketball Tournament in Joyce on Saturday and Sunday, March 18-19.

The tournament is open to players 18 years and older and has a four-game guarantee. It will have a pool play format followed by bracket play to determine an overall champion.

The winners will receive championship T-shirts.

The entry fee is $225 per team.

Proceeds will benefit the Crescent High School basketball program.
