AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Port Angeles baseball well-represented on All-Olympic League team; 7 Cedars Casino wins Port Angeles Parks and Rec hoops title; Storm King soccer tryouts this weekend

4 Roughriders picked as first-team all-league

PORT ANGELES — Four Port Angeles baseball players have earned first-team All-Olympic League honors in voting conducted by league coaches.

Sophomore Brody Merritt was a dual selection at third base and pitcher, while senior Colton McGuffey was picked as a utility player. They were joined on the first team by Roughrider teammates Ethan Flodstrom, a sophomore outfielder and junior first baseman Bo Bradow.

Port Angeles junior catcher Joel Wood and senior outfielder Carson Jackson earned second-team nods, along with Sequim junior first baseman Johnnie Young and senior pitcher Ian Miller.

North Kitsap junior Kyle Green was voted Olympic League MVP.

Storm King tryouts

AGNEW — Storm King Soccer Club will hold tryouts for the fall 2018 select season Saturday and Sunday at Agnew Fields.

Teams will be formed for the following age groups, based on birth year: Boys: 2000-2010 and girls 2004-2010.

The U10-13 team tryouts will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon, while the U14-19 tryouts will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

There is no cost for tryouts.

Online registration is required prior to tryouts at www.stormking soccer.com.

The fees for players who are selected for a team also are available online.

Scholarships and payment plans also are available.

Wolf Pack registration

SEQUIM —Registration for Sequim Wolf Pack youth football and cheerleading will be held at SportsFit Training Center, 1102 E. Washington St., from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 2.

To register, bring a copy of a current physical conducted within the last two years, a grade verification such as a report card, school record or intent to home school form and make sure children are present for sizing for uniforms.

Registration fees are $160 for football, payable to Sequim Wolf Pack, with additional siblings $125.

Cheer registration is $85, with additional siblings $70.

Athletes registered by June 2 will have their last names printed on their game jersey.

Athletes registered after June 2 are responsible for adding their names to their jerseys at the athlete’s expense.
