Peninsula girls make all-state softball teams

VANCOUVER — Forks, Sequim, Quilcene and Port Angeles have representatives on the Washington State Softball Coaches Association 1A and 2A All-State softball teams.

These players were voted on by prep softball coaches.

Making the 2A all-state team as an honorable mention was Sequim’s Isabelle Dennis as a second baseman and Port Angeles’ Peyton Rudd as a utility player.

Making the 1A all-state team as a second team player was Forks infielder Jayden Olson. Her teammates Rian Peters and Britney Dean were honorable mentions — Peters as a catcher and Dean as a pitcher.

Making the 1B all-state team as an honorable mention infielder was Quilcene’s Madison Coffey.

Woodland’s Olivia Grey, a pitcher, was named the player of the year among 2A schools and Woodland coach Tom Christensen was named coach of the year.

Montesano dominated the 1A selections. Montesano had five players on the first and second teams and Bulldogs pitcher Lindsay Pace was named player of the year, while Montesano coach Pat Pace was named the co-coach of the year along with Ron Strode of Castle Rock.

Player of the year at the 1B level was Sarah Bradshaw of Almira/Coulee-Hartline and the coach of the year was Graham Grindy of Almira/Coulee-Hartline.

Pickleball refs class

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles will host a pickleball referee class at the Vern Burton gym. The class size will be limited and the schedule of the class will be announced later. For more information, call Steve Bennett at 360-460-7424.
