AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Peninsula games postponed; Quilcene girls now to play Wednesday

Peninsula hoops games postponed

PORT ANGELES — Bellevue Community College has called off the Peninsula College basketball games scheduled for today because of snow and ice.

The men and women’s games have been postponed until March 2. The women’s game will be held at 4 p.m. and the men’s game at 6 p.m.

Bellevue College was closed both Monday and Tuesday due to the weather and road conditions.

The men and women have already had a pretty big layoff since they did not have games this weekend.

Their next games will be Saturday at home against Edmonds, their first games in 10 days.

The Pirate women (4-3, 11-8) will play at 4 p.m. Saturday, while the men (4-3, 7-14) will play at 6 p.m.

Playoff updates

QUILCENE — The Quilcene girls’ Sea-Tac 1B League Tournament basketball game against Northwest Yeshiva has been postponed a second time to 5:30 p.m. today becuase of snow and ice.

The game was originally set to be played Monday, but had been postponed to Tuesday due to the Sunday night/Monday morning storm that hit the area.

The winner of tonight’s game will play for the opportunity to move on to the Tri-District 1B Tournament.

Also, the Forks basketball girls will be traveling to King’s Way Christian in Vancouver on Friday, not Kelso.

Because of more snow being forecast this weekend, there is a possibility that other playoff games could be postponed. There are a total of six playoff games scheduled Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Port Townsend, Port Angeles and Forks.
