AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: PA’s Gladfelter sixth at NAIA nationals

Marion, INDIANA — Port Angeles High School graduate Jack Gladfelter finished sixth in the 10,000 meters at the NAIA outdoor national championships .

Gladfelter, who competes for Corban University in Salem, Ore., finished in 30 minutes, 29.85 seconds, just 17 seconds behind first place. The race was won in 30:12.05 by Luca Madeo of Cumberlands University in Kentucky.

Because of Gladfelter’s finish, he was named an NAIA All-American.

Gladfelter recently also finished second in the same at the Cascade Collegiate Conference earlier this month. He improved his placing dramatically from last year, when he finished 30 at the NAIA nationals in the 5,000 meters.

Gladfelter is just a sophomore and three of the runners ahead of him at nationals are seniors.

While running for Port Angeles High School, Gladfelter finished fifth at the state track meet in both the 1,600- and the 3,200-meter races in 2022, his junior year.
