Owen notches 2nd ace during Cedars’ Men’s Club play

SEQUIM — Sequim’s Dean Owen recorded his second career hole-in-one while playing in The Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course’s weekly Men’s Club competition Jan. 22.

Owen aced the 140-yard par-3 No. 8 hole using his 8-iron and a Bridgestone golf ball.

Port Townsend’s Mike Burchard and Sequim’s Paul Langdon witnessed the shot.

Coed youth soccer

PORT TOWNSEND — Registration is open through March 21 for Jefferson County Parks and Recreation’s spring coed youth soccer season for children in pre-Kindergarten through seventh grade.

Teams will be divided by age group.

Fees are $65 and include a T-shirt.

Practices will start April 7 and the league will wrap in mid-June.

Games and practices will be held Mondays and Wednesdays with pre-K through second-grade games at 4:30 p.m. and older players playing at 5:30 p.m. at HJ Carroll Park in Chimacum or Memorial Field in Port Townsend.

Coaches will serve as referees.

A coach meeting for all levels will be held at the Port Townsend Rec Center, 620 Tyler St., at 5:30 p.m. April 2.

Green teaches catching

PORT ANGELES — Sequim senior softball player Michaela Green will host a softball clinic for ages 9-16 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the North Olympic Baseball and Softball Barn, 260 Easy St.

Green is an All-Olympic League catcher for the Wolves and has played in club tournaments in California, Florida and Colorado with traveling teams.

Registration is $50 per player.

Girls basketball clinics

PORT TOWNSEND — Jefferson County Parks and Recreation will offer girls basketball clinics for players in grades 3-5 and 6-8 at Blue Heron Middle School, 3939 San Juan Ave., on March 22.

Players in grades 3-5 will attend from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. while older players will participate from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Players should bring their own snacks and water bottle.

The registration fee is $50 and the deadline to sign up is March 14.

Forks pee-wee hoops

FORKS — West End Youth League will host three registration events for its boys and girls first- and second-grade pee-wee basketball league this month.

Registration is $40 per participant.

Signup events are set for 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 11 and Feb. 13 in the back room at Pacific Pizza, 870 S. Forks Ave.
