VANCOUVER, Wash. — The Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association concluded its spring season Saturday, with members competing at the US Rowing Northwest Youth Championship at Vancouver Lake.
The top showing for OPRA was by Danielle Woodhouse, who finished in the B final of the womens under 17 singles with a time of 10 minutes, 21.17 seconds. OPRA’s Cooper Disque finished sixth in the B final of the mens youth singles with a time of 8:46.82.

Sequim Picklers
SEQUIM — The Sequim Picklers this week announced the Sequim Fling Pickleball Tournament to be held June 26-29 at the Carrie Blake Park courts in Sequim
This year’s Fling will feature two new tournament formats.
The Minor League Pickleball event will feature teams with two men and two women, grouped by aggregate rating (total score of all four players’ ratings). Anticipated brackets range from an aggregate of 12 (average 3.0 per player) to 18 (4.5 per player) with open and senior (50+) divisions.
The Sequim Fling is part of the regional and national qualifying circuit, allowing teams to earn qualification points toward both the Northwest Regional MiLP Championships and the National MiLP Championships. For local players not interested in the broader circuit or the regional championship, it is not necessary to enter any other tournaments in the circuit in order to play in this event. To register for the MiLP event, people can visit SwissTournaments.com.
In addition to the MiLP events at the Fling, there will be a scramble format for both men and women. In this format players register as individuals — no partner required. In the preliminary rounds, players are randomly paired each game with another registrant in their pool (grouped by age, gender and skill level), and they play doubles against another randomly paired team. Players gain points individually in the pool standings based on the outcome of each game.
At the conclusion of the preliminary rounds, the field is cut based on point standings. Of those remaining, players from the top half select an ongoing partner from the bottom half to compete together in a playoff bracket leading to the traditional gold, silver and bronze medals. District girls tennis
BREMERTON — Sequim’s Tiffany Lam won a pair of matches at the West-Central District 3 tennis meet this weekend, though she came up short for qualifying for the state 2A tournament.
Lam first beat Ella Mitchell of Fife 6-0, 6-1, then lost in straight sets to Teagan DeVries of North Kitsap. DeVries, the Olympic League singles champion, went on to win the District 3 tournament.
Lam beat Sequim teammate Amara Gonzalez in the consolation bracket 6-2, 6-0, then lost to Bailey Anderson of Eatonville in straight sets. Anderson went on to finish third at district and qualify for state.
