AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Northern Peninsula FC Soccer tryouts

SEQUIM — A two-part open tryout is planned for Northern Peninsula FC, the area’s men’s semipro soccer club which competes in the Cascadia Premier League’s D2 Pacific Division.

The tryouts will be held at the Albert Haller playfields, 500 N. Blake Ave., from 9 a.m. to noon March 18 and 25.

Potential players must turn age 16 by May.

Registration and a $25 fee is required to participate. Training sites include Sigmar Field in Port Angeles, the Haller playfields and Memorial Field in Port Townsend.

The team will play five home games at Memorial Field and five away games.

Relay registration

PORT ANGELES — The Frosty Moss Relays were postponed due to snow and icy roads and have been rescheduled to April 1.

It is an 80-mile, 15-leg team relay that goes from the Sol Duc River to the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe headquarters in Blyn.

The race follows the paved Olympic Discovery Trail and the unpaved Olympic Adventure Trail. The 30-mile race goes from Ediz Hook to Blyn. There will be an after-race party at the Blyn Banquet Room at 7 Cedars Resort with food, drinks, music and awards.

Registration closes March 31. There will be no day-of-race registration. Registration is at www.tinyurl.com/FrostyMossApril.

Cost is $100 per person for the 80-mile Frosty Moss and $80 for the 30-mile Mini Moss.

Frosty Moss teams can consist of two to five people. There is a limit of 60 teams with four wave starts of 15 teams each.

The Mini Moss has teams of two to four people and is limited to 45 teams with four wave starts of 15 each.

The price for the Mini Moss solo 50K (31 miles) is $85.
