Baseball and softball registration
PORT ANGELES — Three in-person registration sessions for North Olympic Baseball and Softball will be held in the Vern Burton Center meeting rooms, 308 E. Fourth St.
Registration dates and times are Tuesday and Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and for those who miss the first two dates, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17.
North Olympic Baseball and Softball is affiliated with Cal Ripken Baseball. The league fields teams for boys ages 5 to 12 and girls ages 5 to 16.
Boys’ ages for the upcoming season are determined by the age the player will be on April 30.
Girls’ ages are determined by their age on December 31, 2015.
Players new to the league must bring their birth certificate. A copier will be available on-site.
Mail-in registration forms must be postmarked by Feb. 12 and mailed to P.O. Box 1810, Port Angeles, WA 98362.
The cost to participate is $25 per player.
Skills testing for new baseball players ages 8-12 who have not previously played on a majors team will be held at the Lincoln Park fields on consecutive Saturdays, Feb. 27 and March 5.
Skills testing for softball players ages 8-16 will be held at Lincoln Park on consecutive Saturdays, March 5 and 12.
A baseball skills clinic will be held at Lincoln Park from 4:30 p.m. to dark Monday, Feb. 29, through Wednesday, March 2.
A softball skills clinic will be held at Lincoln Park from 4:30 p.m. to dark Monday, March 7, through Wednesday, March 9.

Gymnasts compete
SEATTLE — The Klahhane Gymnastics competitive teams were in action at the George Lewis Memorial Aloha Invitational at Seattle Pacific University on Jan. 23-24.
The competition included Klahhane’s Junior Olympic and Xcel programs.
In Xcel Platinum competition, Cassii Middlestead finished second in the Sr. A age group all-around (35.75), highlighted by a gold medal in the uneven bars (9.35).
Danica Miller was fourth in the Sr. A all-around (35.25) and earned silver on the vault (9.0).
Klahhane competitors in the Gold Division were led by Maizie Tucker, who finished fifth on the bars (8.4) and sixth on the vault (8.8) in the Sr. A age group.
Julienne Jacobs earned sixth-place finishes on the vault (8.6), balance beam (8.25) and floor (8.8) in Sr. B.
In the Xcel competition, the Bronze Division team was lead by Adisyn Ellis-Bourm, who placed fourth in Jr. B with a score of 35.80 in the all-around.
Isabelle Pecorano was fifth in Jr. B with an all-around mark of 35.6. Chloe Notari was sixth in the Sr. all-around (34.8), her highest mark (9.25) coming on the uneven bars.
Morgan Mattix finished fifth (34.4) in the Jr. A all-around, which included placing fourth on the uneven bars (8.175) and fifth (9.0) on the vault.
Kori Miller was just behind Mattix in sixth place with an all-around score of 34.3. Miller placed second on the uneven bars (8.45) and was third in the floor exercise (8.95).
Benefit for PA hoops
PORT ANGELES — A fundraiser basketball tournament for the Port Angeles High School boys basketball program is planned for Saturday and Sunday, April 23-24.
The cost for the eight-team men’s tournament is $300 per team. Each team is guaranteed to play four games.
Prizes and awards will be offered to the first- through third-place teams, and all-tournament teams are planned.
All proceeds will benefit the Roughriders boys basketball program.
