NEAH BAY — After its season was delayed until the end of September due to COVID-19 protocols, the Neah Bay volleyball team has been lights out in October, going a perfect 8-0 on the season so far.
Neah Bay is the No. 1-ranked volleyball team among 1B schools, according to the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association RPI rankings.
The Neah Bay girls defeated Shoreline Christian 3-0 (25-21, 25-12, 25-22) in non-league action on Saturday in Shoreline. Shoreline Christian came in to that match with a 13-3 record and is ranked No. 8 in the state.
“Strong play at the net from middle hitters, Koren Cumming and Ezrah Ray led the Red Devils,” coach Rebekah Monette said.
Ray had four kills, five aces and two blocks, while Cumming added four blocks. Outside hitters Oceana Aguirre and Amber Swan each added five kills for the win. Setter Ryana Moss tallied 16 assists.
Neah Bay played Monday at Concordia Christian, then hosts Clallam Bay at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Middle school cross-country results
PORT ANGELES — Boys and girls from the Olympic Peninsula competed in the middle school 2-mile cross-country championships at Lincoln Park last week.
The boys’ winner was Grady White of Blue Heron Middle School with a time of 12 minutes, 37 seconds. The girls’ winner was Leia Larson of Stevens Middle School in a time of 13:34. A total of 54 boys and girls competed.
