OLYMPIA — The Neah Bay football team learned Monday that it will travel to Richland on Saturday to play Liberty Christian in the state 1B quarterfinals.

The game will be played at 1 p.m. at Fran Rish Stadium, which is the stadium for Richland High School near the Liberty Christian campus.

Liberty Christian hosts because it is a No. 4 seed while Neah Bay is a No. 5 seed.

However, the Red Devils (8-2) have won eight games in a row, outscoring their opponents 544-115.

Neah Bay played Liberty Christian (9-0) in the state semifinals last year, winning 82-24. However, that team featured a passing attack and this year’s squad has a running attack with Charlie Branning, who has gained 1,944 yards. That includes a 410-yard game against St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse.

The Red Devils feature a one-two rushing attack with Jodell Wimberley and Tyler Swan that combined for 11 touchdowns in an 86-6 win last week against Winlock.

If the Red Devils win, they will likely face No. 1 Liberty Bell (Winthrop) in the semifinals. Neah Bay and Liberty Bell played in the finals last year with Liberty Bell coming out on top.

Check the NFHS Network at www.nfhsnetwork.com to see if the game is being streamed.
