AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Neah Bay football crushes Coupeville 44-0

FORKS — Playing an 11-man game against a 1A school, the Neah Bay Red Devils didn’t miss a beat, blanking Coupeville 44-0.

Neah Bay got another huge rushing day from Tobias Croy, who ran for 186 yards on 29 carries and scored four touchdowns. It was Croy’s third game over 180 yards for the Red Devils (3-0).

Neah Bay had 322 total yards rushing. Robert Richardson had 68 yards on 10 carries, Jodell Wimberly 43 yards on 11 carries and Neil Bowechop 40 yards on three carries. Bowechop added six receptions for 43 yards, and Richardson had two catches for 22 yards. Jaxson Halttunen also had a 20-yard catch.

Quarterback Meric Soeneke passed for 85 yards on 9-for-15 passing, with a 3-yard touchdown pass to Bowechop.

On defense, the Red Devils held the Wolves to just 26 yards of offense. Coupeville had just 1 net yard rushing.

Soeneke had two interceptions on defense and Bowechop had an interception.

The game was played at Spartans Stadium in Forks.

16U Girls Fastpitch

Kiwanis 13, Leitz 0

PORT ANGELES — Kiwanis’ Alexis Perry went 3-for-4 with two singles and a double and scored three times in her team’s 13-0 win over Leitz.

Josephine Edgington, Lily Thomas and Maryrose Halberg all had two hits. Audrey Gale, Abby Kimball and Savannah Boulton each added a hit.

Maliah Wilson pitched four innings, earning four strikeouts and allowing no hits. Josephine Edgington pitched the last inning, holding Leitz to no hits.

Tatum Moses pitched three innings for Leitz, earning a strikeout. Ciarra Cargo pitched two innings with a strikeout.
