PORT TOWNSEND — More than 700 people have signed up to run in Sunday’s Jefferson Healthcare Rhody Run through Port Townsend, with near-perfect running weather forecast.
For runners, packet pickup and late registration is from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and packet pickup and late registration begins Sunday at 7 a.m. Online registration closed at 8 a.m. today.
The road to the Jefferson County Fairgrounds will be closed at 8:45 a.m. Sunday. The 10K race begins at 9 a.m. and the 5K begins at 9:15 a.m. The awards ceremony will be held at 11 a.m.
The Rhody Run gives special thanks to Port Townsend Foundry for the race medals, Food Co-op and Safeway for snacks and Goodman Sanitation for the sanican stations.
Ham radio, water stations and sanicans will be located at miles 1.4, 4 and 5.6. Richland American Homes will host a water station at mile 5.
Partly sunny skies with temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s are forecast for Sunday morning.

PORT ANGELES — Local 155 claimed a 5-2 victory over Athletes’ Choice on Monday night in Olympic Junior Babe Ruth play at Volunteer Park.
Brandt Perry got the start on the mound for Local 155 and put in a stellar performance going five innings, striking out 11 and surrendering only one hit.
Bryce DeLeon came in the game in the sixth inning to pick up the save with three strikeouts. He allowed one hit.
Athletes’ Choice got on the board in the top of the first when Kaeden Indelicato reached base on a walk and made his way around the bases to score on an error.
Local 155 answered in the bottom of the first when leadoff hitter Ian Smithson, DeLeon, Petty, Chris Jaynes and Jaron Tolliver all singled, putting up three runs.
Local 155 struck again in the bottom of the fourth with two outs as Smithson reached base on an error and made it to third on DeLeon’s single and a passed ball. Perry then unleashed a triple, scoring both Smithson and DeLeon.
Athletes’ Choice answered in the top of the sixth with a run when Cody Williams reached base on a single, made his way around the bases and scored on a passed ball.
On the day for Local 155, Smithson was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, DeLeon 2-for-4 with two runs scored, Perry was 2-for-4 and Jaynes was 2-for-2 with a double. Felix Gonzales also had a single.
For Athletes’ Choice, Williams and Ben Clemons both had hits.
Soccer action
PORT ANGELES — High Energy Metals became the last team to fall from the unbeaten ranks in a 4-3 loss to Windermere Real Estate Sunday in Peninsula Soccer League play.
Windermere, getting goals from Luis Galvan, Izzy Felton, Luis Galva and Dayton Williams, improved to 6-1, tied with HEMI. Mavee Harris, Jake Hughes and Noah Brasher scored for High Energy Metals.
In another big match, Forks FC improved to 5-1-1 with a 4-2 win over Salazar Painting, which slipped to 5-2. The Forks co-ed team got a hat trick from Gabriel Julio and another goal from Dani Jimenez, while Pablo Salazar and Juan Carlos Cisneros both scored for Salazar.
In Sunday’s other matches, Jay Marazon, Sam Watson, Solas McGruther, Aaron Lee and Victoria Jones all scored, leading Strait Slice to a 5-0 win over the Bandidos; Los Primos blanked Ediz Hook 10-0, getting hat tricks from Christian Torres and Benito Morales, two goals from Juan Torres and two from Juan Delgado; and it was Pantry & Latch 6-3 over Pura Vida, as Mike Ingram scored two and Ben Stanley, Chris Fields, Spencer Stuhldreher and Bonnie Laubach all scored for Pantry. Jordan Swift, Javier Gomez and Juan Gonzalez found the net for Pura Vida.
