SkyRidge member McCarter nabs first hole-in-one
SEQUIM — SkyRidge Golf Course member Kevin McCarter recently recorded his first hole-in-one while playing the course’s 140-yard 17th hole.
McCarter’s single came on Sept. 24 while using a Crush Supreme Nike ball and a TaylorMade M4 9-iron.
Witnesses were Lance Gardener and Don Purser.
McCarter has been golfing for two-plus years and became a SkyRidge member in March.
He has been an active participant in tournaments and joined the SkyRidge Merchant League this past season.
Basketball refs wanted
PORT ANGELES — The North Olympic Basketball Officials Association, or NOBOA, is currently recruiting new members to help officiate the upcoming 2019-2020 middle and high school boys and girls basketball seasons.
NOBOA covers all nine school districts across the North Olympic Peninsula.
The organization offers a full training program, teamwork and camaraderie, as well as paid travel and game opportunities.

Paddlers meet tonight
SEQUIM — Washington Water Trails Association president and acting executive director Andrée Hurley will speak at tonight’s Olympic Peninsula Paddlers meeting.
Hurley will present “Learn More About Washington Water Trails, our History, Creating and Keeping Access to the Water.”
The meeting will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church, 925 N. Sequim Ave.
The event is free and open to the public.

Wrestling open gym
PORT TOWNSEND — Registration is open for Jefferson County Parks and Recreation’s two-week wrestling open gym for grapplers in grades one through six.
The open gym sessions will be held in the Wrestling Room at Port Townsend High School’s Bruce Blevins Gymnasium, 1500 Van Ness St., from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from Dec. 2-13.
The cost is $10 up front, or $2 per session for drop-in participants.
The deadline to register is Nov. 25 and a registration form is available online at tinyurl.com/PDN-JeffCoWrestling.
Swim lessons slated
SEQUIM — Registration is open for swim lessons at the Sequim YMCA, 610 N. Fifth Ave.
Classes will run from Monday through Nov. 6.
There are classes for all ages — ranging from a Swim Starters parent and child course through individual lessons for adults.
Eight swim lessons are provided.
Costs are $35 for YMCA members and $65 for the public.
