AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Lincoln Park BMX unveils new branding

PORT ANGELES — The Lincoln Park BMX track unveiled its new branding to celebrate being the top track in the state for points and for hosting the 2023 Washington state finals in late September.

Tracks earn points for collecting new members, renewing members, rider participation and one-day members that convert to new longterm members. The track averaged 136 riders per single-point race last year.

Lincoln Park BMX earned 10,824 points, well ahead of second-place Peninsula Indoor track in Port Orchard with 7,530 points. Lincoln Park also beat out other BMX tracks in large urban areas such as Spokane, Sea-Tac and Tri-Cities.

The Lincoln Park BMX track is also ranked No. 13 out of 300 tracks in the U.S.

“It’s a great achievement and it shows how much we are dedicated to this sport,” said track operator Sean Coleman.

Coleman also said Lincoln Park BMX deals with weather more than many of the top tracks in the Washington and the U.S., which are either indoors or in warm, dry climates in Arizona, Florida, California and Texas.

“We are the most northern track on that list that is an outdoor track, therefore affected by weather much sooner than others,” he said.

Last year, Lincoln Park BMX hosted the Pacific Northwest Gold Cup finals.
