AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Lincoln Park BMX season begins Saturday

PORT ANGELES — The Lincoln Park BMX track will have its season-opening practice beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday with the first single-point race of the season to be held at noon Sunday.

The practice session will run until 1 p.m. The cost is $5 per rider. BMX membership is required and one-day memberships are available.

Registration and practice for the Sunday race begins at 11 a.m. The cost is $12 per bike if riders pre-sign and $15 per bike in person. More information, including information on how to get memberships, can be found at www.LPBMX.com or www.usabmx.com/site/sections/248.

Lincoln Park BMX will also hold a free open house from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. April 26.

Lincoln Park is one of the premier BMX tracks in the Pacific Northwest and will be hosting the state BMX finals Sept. 23-24.

PORT ANGELES — Forks FC, High Energy Metals, Salazar Painting and Windermere Real Estate all improved to 2-0 with Peninsula Soccer League wins on Easter Sunday at Peninsula College.

Forks FC shut out Bandidos FC 5-0, getting goals from Hugo Sandoval Jr., Jose Cendejas, Dani Jimenez, Julio Morolo and Luis Perez.

High Energy got by Pantry & Latch 3-0, as Kanyon Anderson scored twice and Zane Carey added a third goal.

Salazar was too much for Los Primos, winning 10-1. Pablo Salazar had a hat trick, Edgar Aceves scored a pair, and Bladimir Velazquez, Felix Morales, Kyle Kautzman, Raul Medina and Samuel Aceves also found the net. Benito Morales had the lone tally for Los Primos.

Windermere covered a lot of real estate in its 13-0 win over Ediz Hook FC, getting two goals each from Luis Galvan, Derick Schumalker, Luke Angevine, Josh Boe and Paige Mason, and solo strikes by Ben Schnieder, Kate Hall and Jeri Boe.

In Sunday’s other match, Strait Slice and Pura Vida played to a 3-3 draw. Zach Grey, Rob Walton and Taryn Asum scored for Strait Slice, while Rafael Flores, Jordan Swift and Christian Salas had goals for Pura Vida.
