PORT ANGELES — The Lincoln Park BMX Park is holding a new rider league open house from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday.
The open house is for any first-time rider, 5 and older who has never tried BMX before, but can ride and pedal a bike.
The cost is $150 per rider. The event includes the open house, four coaching sessions of 90 minutes each, a jersey, a USABMX membership and five single-point races. The coaching sessions are from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. May 8, May 22, June 5 and June 12.
Free bikes and helmets will be available.
Basketball camp
PORT ANGELES — There will be a Port Angeles boys basketball camp for boys entering third to eighth grades at the Port Angeles High School gym June 20-23.
The cost is $60 per player. Checks should be made out to Port Angeles Boys Basketball. Third to fifth grade camp will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., while sixth- to eighth-grade camp will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The camp includes a T-shirt, games and instruction. Kids should bring basketball shoes, their own T-shirt, shorts and a great attitude.

Junior Babe Ruth
PORT ANGELES — The Athletes Choice Junior Babe Ruth baseball team opened its regular season last week with a 13-10 win against Westport. Athletes Choice’s Kody Williams held Westport to five runs in four innings with six strikeouts.
Kaeden Indelicato got the save, going three innings and giving up five runs with three strikeouts. Indelicato also went 3-for-3 at the plate, reaching base five times and scoring three runs. Josiah Gooding went 3-for-3 with five RBIs.
Westport’s starting pitcher, Brayden Martin, had a dominant presence on the mound, containing Athletes Choice to only four runs in five innings. Westport had a strong night from the three top hitters in the lineup — Garrett Buerer, Carston Siebel and Kaleb Mullen. They all went 2-for-4 and scored two runs each. Mullen hit two doubles.
16U Softball
PORT ANGELES — Maryrose Halberg was the winning pitcher for Kiwanis, allowing only two hits and striking out nine in a 19-3 victory over Leitz last week.
Alexis Perry pitched one inning, striking out one.
Kiwanis belted 16 hits, led by Perry, who went 3-for-4 with two triples. She also scored three runs. Becca Manson went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two runs. Lead-off batter Lily Thomas went 3-for-3 with a walk and scored four runs.
Kennedy Rognlien scored three times and had two base hits. Mya Hartman added two hits and Audrey Gales, Abby Rudd and Halberg all added one base hit each.
Leitz pitcher Ella Garcelon pitched most of the game and contributed a base hit. Adi Richardson also saw time on the mound and hit a long triple to right center. Lynzee Reid, who pitched two innings, added a single, as did third baseman Jordin Dunaway.
