AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Lincoln Park BMX clinic hosted by Olympian Nyhaug

PORT ANGELES — Canadian BMX Olympic champion Tory Nyhaug will be giving a clinic at the Lincoln Park BMX track on June 21 and 22.

Because of the school year being extended, times will be later than originally scheduled. On June 21, the clinic will run from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for expert riders and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for novice and intermediate riders.

On June 22, the novice and intermediate clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and the expert clinic will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $130 per rider. People can sign up at https://lpbmx.presign.me. There is a maximum of 15 riders.

Nyhaug represented Canada at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics in the men’s BMX. He won a silver medal at the World Championships in 2014 and a gold medal at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto.

In Rio de Janeiro in 2016, Nyhaug made the Olympic final and finished fifth.

Pirate golf tournament

PORT ANGELES — Registration is open for the annual Peninsula College Athletics Pirate Golf Tournament set for Saturday at Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course.

The event costs $400 per team and $100 per individual. The event features putting for wine, a MEGA putt contest and other optional sports-themed activities at several of the holes.

The shotgun start is at 9 a.m. and there will be lunch. To register, people can go online at https://pirategolf2024.givesmart.com.
