AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Lincoln Park BMX-based rider wins national title

PORT ANGELES — Kingston’s Wyatt Christensen, who rides at the Lincoln Park BMX Track in Port Angeles, won the 9-year-old export class in Tulsa, Okla., this weekend at the USA BMX Grand Nationals.

The win made Christensen the 2021 BMX national champion in the 9-year-old age group.

His season points were high enough to rank No. 8 in the United States among all amateur men and boys regardless of age.

Christensen will head to France in 2022 to compete in the UCI BMX World Championships, where he will defend his world title from Belgium in 2019, the last time the world championships were held.
