Lefties host youth clinics for boys, girls

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Lefties are hosting youth baseball camps for boys and girls ages 6-12 on Mondays and Tuesdays from noon to 3 p.m. at Civic Field through Aug. 1.

Campers will warm up and hit during the first hour of camp, focus on defensive skills at infield and outfield and catcher and pitcher positions in hour two and play games to wrap each session in the third hour.

The cost is $25 per day.

3-on-3 hoops tourney

PORT ANGELES — A three-on-three basketball tournament with divisions for boys, girls and men’s and women’s teams will be held July 29-30 at Port Angeles High School.

There will be boys and girls divisions for third through fifth grade, sixth through eighth grade, high school and men’s and women’s divisions for adults age 18 and older.

Teams can have a maximum of four players. The registration fee is $60 per team and is due by Saturday.

Proceeds will benefit the Port Angeles boys basketball program.

Coed softball league

PORT ANGELES — Today is the final day to register for a coed softball league hosted by the city of Port Angeles Parks and Recreation Department.

Play will begin at Shane and Elks fields the week of July 24.

The cost is $650 per team.

Players without a team can call and be placed on a “free agent” list.

Free tennis camp

PORT ANGELES — A free tennis camp for eighth-graders and high school boys will be held from Monday through Friday, July 28 at the Port Angeles High School tennis courts.

Incoming freshmen instruction is from 9 a.m. to noon and others from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. These camps are helpful for boys who might like to try high school tennis.

The camp will be hosted by Port Angeles High School boys tennis coach Gil Stockton.
