AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Kraken schedule released; Slots open for Ride the Hurricane

SEATTLE — The Seattle Kraken announced Wednesday new six-game ticket pack options for the 2025-26 season. Six-game ticket packs went on sale, providing up to 25 percent savings on tickets versus purchasing them as individual games by avoiding ticketing fees.

Seattle begins the regular season with its home opener at Climate Pledge Arena against the Anaheim Ducks on Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. PT. The full schedule was announced Wednesday and single-game tickets go on sale Friday. All ticket options will be available at NHL.com/Kraken/tickets.

Fourteen of the Kraken’s home games will be held on weekends this season (10 on Saturdays and four on Sundays), with special games on New Year’s Day and Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Highlights of the Kraken’s home season include the home preseason opener at 5 p.m. Sept. 21 against the Vancouver Canucks, the season opener at 7 p.m. Oct. 9, an early-season game against Connor McDavid and the Western Conference champion Edmonton Oilers at 7 p.m. Oct. 25, a rare day game at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 also against Edmonton, a New Year’s Day game at 7 p.m. against the Nashville Predators, two home games against Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar and the Colorado Avalanche at 7 p.m. Dec. 16 and March 12, a day game on Martin Luther King Jr. Day at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, another 1 p.m. day game Sunday, Jan. 25 against the New Jersey Devils, a 7 p.m. Jan. 27 game against the Washington Capitals, which feature the all-time NHL goal-scoring leader Alex Ovechkin, a 7 p.m. Jan. 29 game against Auston Mathews and the Toronto Maple Leafs and a game against the defending world champion Florida Panthers at 5 p.m. March 16, a Sunday.

Hurricane ride

PORT ANGELES — There are only a handful of spots left for Ride the Hurricane participants, and if people want to ride, they are urged to register as soon as possible.

People can go to www.ridethehurricane.org to register.

If people don’t plan to ride, they are also welcome to volunteer. At least 15 more volunteers are needed.

People can volunteer at the rider check-in station, the summit cheering section, aid station support, bike mechanics, bike corral and after-party help.
