AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Klahhane earns gold at Freedom Invite

SILVERDALE — Klahhane Gymnastics’ Xcel Team came away with two age-group champions, and four additional club gymnasts earned top-three finishes at The Freedom Invitational last weekend.

The annual meet is hosted by Cascade Elite West to honor military and first responders around the state and nation with a portion of proceeds donated to the USO.

Competing on Sunday, Jessamyn Schindler had the high score for the team (37.35 points) to take first in the Platinum Division Senior B age group. Schindler also picked up gold medals on uneven bars (9.675) and floor exercise (9.35) and silver on balance beam (9.2) and vault (9.15).

In the Gold Division, Taylor Bugge earned gold in the Senior A age group with a score of 35.825, earning event gold on the uneven bars (9.075) and balance beam (9.0) and silver medals on floor exercise (9.0) and vault (8.75).

Kira Hartman totaled 34.875 all around and earned a bronze in the Junior A age group.

Also competing in the Gold Division were Neveah Thurman-Dupuis, who qualified for the state meet with an all-around score of 34.35, and Mariah Traband, who earned bronze on the balance beam (8.85).

Silver Team members earned two silver medals in the all-around competition.

Gracelyn Goss claimed a silver with an all-around score of 36.9. Goss also earned silver in the vault (8.9) and uneven bars (9.6) and a bronze on the balance beam (9.0).

Harper Hiliker was right behind Goss with 36.8 all-around points, earning an overall bronze. Hiliker picked up gold medals on the uneven bars (9.65) and vault (8.95) while also taking bronze on the floor exercise (9.2).

Saffron Tschida matched Hiliker’s 36.8 score in the all-around, also good for a bronze medal in the Junior B age group, and qualified her for the state meet.

Tschida picked up silver event medals in balance beam (9.4) and vault (9.2). Also competing in the Silver Division were Elyse Brown with a bronze medal on vault (9.0) and Raynee Ciarlo, who qualified for the state meet with a 36.4 all-around score.
