Irrigation Festival Run/Walk set May 10

SEQUIM — Runners and walkers will tread the Irrigation Festival Parade route as part of the Sequim Irrigation Festival Run Series set May 10.

In honor of the festival’s 130th year, the first 130 participants to register will receive a finisher’s medal.

The out-and-back race will begin at the old J.C. Penney parking lot at 651 W. Washington St., and it has distances of 5 kilometers and 1 mile.

Registration fees are $40 for the 5-kilometer run/walk and $37 for the 1 mile.

Zombie Mud Run

PORT ANGELES — The Pirate Zombie Mud Run is back, a family-friendly obstacle course that challenges speed, strength and strategy — all while being chased by the undead. The race will be held May 17.

Participants will launch in teams of four to eight every few minutes on a 2-mile course weaving through campus and the forest. Grab a flag belt at the start and guard it with your life — zombies will be stationed throughout the route, trying to steal it.

Make it to the finish line with your flag, and you’ll be awarded a survivor’s medal. Get “infected”? Swing by the first aid tent for a zombie antidote to reclaim your humanity and cross the finish line.

Prices are $40/$15/$75.

To register, visit pencol.edu/events and look for the Pirate Zombie Mud Run.
