PORT ANGELES — The Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association’s Sean Halberg won two medals at the US Rowing Northwest Regional Masters Championships in Vancouver, Wash., held on June 23-25.

Halberg of Port Angeles earned silver medals in the B and C age categories in his single scull, with times of 3 minutes, 54 seconds and 3:56, respectively.

In the coming weeks races will be held in Victoria, B.C.; Vancouver, B.C.; Vancouver, Wash.; and Sacramento, Calif.; and then the WorldRowing Masters Championships in Bled, Slovenia, from Sept. 7-10.

3-on-3 hoops tourney

PORT ANGELES — A three-on-three basketball tournament with divisions for boys, girls and men’s and women’s teams will be held July 29-30 at Port Angeles High School.

There will be boys and girls divisions for third through fifth grade, sixth through eighth grade, high school and men’s and women’s divisions for adults age 18 and older.

Teams can have a maximum of four players. The tournament

The registration fee is $60 per team and is due by July 15.

Proceeds will benefit the Port Angeles boys basketball program.

Coed softball league

PORT ANGELES — A coed softball league hosted by the city of Port Angeles Parks and Recreation Department is seeking teams and players.

Play will begin at Shane and Elks fields the week of July 24.

The cost is $650 per team.

Players without a team can call and be placed on a “free agent” list.

The deadline to register is July 12.

PT at football camp

PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend football program recently attended football camp at Linfield College in McMinnville, Ore.

The Redhawks scrimmaged against Washington teams like Ridgefield and Washougal and faced Oregon teams from Sweet Home, Lyle, Dayton, South Umpqua, The Dalles and Gaston.

Players received one-on-one coaching from Wildcat coaches and players and got many repetitions on offense and defense.

[We] came away with many scimmage wins and competed in nightly team building ‘Wildcat Challenges,’” said head coach Alex Heilig.

“We had three players recieve camp awards for outstanding performances which are choosen by Linfield coaches.”

Earning honors were rising sophomore quarterback and defensive back Noa Apker-Montoya, senior running back Detrius Kelsall and senior wide receiver Jacob Boucher.
