Fall ONP closures

PORT ANGELES — Hurricane Ridge Road and Obstruction Point Road will be closed for periods of time in the fall for a safety and accessibility road project.

Obstruction Point Road closed Tuesday at the junction with Hurricane Ridge Road and will remain closed for the rest of the 2022 season. Hurricane Ridge Road will be closed at the Heart O’ the Hills Entrace Station beginning Sept. 16 and will remain closed to Oct. 21. The Heart O’ the Hills Campground will remain open.

The $1.7 million contract for this project was awarded to Bruch and Bruch Construction of Port Angeles. Work will include widening Obstruction Point Road to provide a safe vehicle width. On Hurricane Ridge Road, a reinforced soil slope wall will be installed to secure unstable soils near the road. Electrical and fiber optic lines in the work area will be relocated.
