AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Golf tourneys, scrambles benefit schools, organizations

PORT TOWNSEND — New uniforms for East Jefferson — the Port Townsend and Chimacum high school athletics combine — is the goal for a Port Townsend and Chimacum Alumni Golf Tournament on Aug. 28.

The 18-hole, four-person scramble format event is hosted by Port Townsend Golf Club and will have a 9 a.m. shotgun start and is limited to 18 teams and 72 players.

There will be prizes for the net and gross division winners as well as KP and long putt prizes.

Entries are $40 per person, plus $15 greens fees for non-members.

Players can form their own groups or register as a single, twosome or threesome, and Port Townsend Golf Club will place you in a group.

Benefit scramble

SEQUIM — The Coats for Kids group is hosting a fundraising tournament Sept. 11 at SkyRidge Golf Course, 7015 Old Olympic Highway.

The four-person scramble is $50 per person; fee includes lunch, prizes, mulligans, putting contest and raffles. Carts are $15.

Check-in is at 9 a.m., and golf starts at 10 a.m.

Tourney organizers are also seeking sponsors. Sponsor a hole for $100 or donate a prize for raffle.

Coats for Kids was founded in 1996 to help area children in need of a coat or shoes.
