Glow Run/Walk to light up the night Saturday

BLYN — The fifth race in the Run the Peninsula Series will be held Saturday with the Jamestown S’Klallam 5K/10K Glow Run/Walk.

The event will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribal Campus, 1033 Old Blyn Highway, with an expected 500 participants running and walking along the Olympic Discovery Trail in the twilight and early evening.

The event is put on by the Port Angeles Marathon Association, which also manages the North Olympic Discovery Marathon in June in Port Angeles.

Proceeds from the event will go to several local organizations, including the Peninsula Trails Coalition which builds and maintains the Olympic Discovery Trail.

The event has the right of way with Clallam County on roads in the area. Drivers are cautioned to be prepared to stop from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the following intersections with the Old Discovery Trail — Old Blyn Highway; Dawley Road, where the trail shares this road; Schoolhouse Point Lane; Schindler Road and Barker Road.

Participants are required to wear a headlamp or some other type of lighting device.

YMCA youth soccer

PORT ANGELES — Registration begins Tuesday for the YMCA of Port Angeles’ upcoming Indoor Youth Soccer season.

The YMCA offers a Mini-Kickers league for preschool children ages 3 to 5 and a Little Foot program for children ages 5-7 in kindergarten and first grade.

Mini-Kickers is an introduction to basic soccer skills and team sports. Group drills, games and scrimmages will be part of this ongoing skills clinic.

Participants will meet for six sessions beginning Feb. 3.

The cost for Mini-Kickers is $30 for YMCA members, $40 for the public.

Little Foot players will practice once a week with the time and location depending on coach and gym availability.

The league helps players learn new skills and improve those they already have. Players will learn team concepts, rules and individual skills.

Practices for the eight-week long program will be held once a week beginning the week of Feb. 3.

Games are played at the YMCA on Saturdays beginning Feb. 22.

The cost is $50 for YMCA members, $65 for the public.

Pre-Christmas golf

SEQUIM — SkyRidge Golf Course will hold a Pre-Christmas 18-hole Golf Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 14.

The event has a triple-six format from the green tees with six holes of scramble play, six of better ball and six of aggregate play to wrap the round.

A total of 28 two-person teams can register.

The cost is $80 per team and includes green fees, range balls and food.

A honey pot is an optional $30 per team and power carts are available for $10 per seat.
