AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Friday is final day to register for women’s basketball league in Port Angeles

City rec softball leagues forming in Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — Registration is open for men’s and women’s softball leagues put on by the city of Port Angeles Parks and Recreation Department.

The season begins in late April and will last into July.

Players ages 18 and older are eligible. Players without a team can call and be placed on a “free agent” list.

The cost is $900 per team.

Sequim soccer

SEQUIM — Sequim FC’s spring soccer season is open for registration with league options for players ages 16 and older.

Options include Sequim FC’s traditional coed competitive league with 11 players a side and over age 40 coed and women’s-only leagues.

Cost is $40 for the traditional coed league, and $30 for the over 40 and women’s leagues.

Jr. lifeguard class

PORT ANGELES — A junior lifeguard course for ages 11 to 15 will be held at William Shore Memorial Pool from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 5.

Participants will be taught rescue skills including water rescue, CPR and team emergency management, and shadow an on-duty lifeguard.

A T-shirt is included.

The cost is $55 per person.

Women’s hoops league

PORT ANGELES — Registration is open through today for a women’s basketball league for ages 16 and older run by the Port Angeles Parks and Recreation Department.

The season will begin in early April and last six weeks.

Games will be held at the Roosevelt Elementary school gym.

The cost is $400 per team.

Players without a team can call or email Dan Estes at 360-417-4557 or destes@cityofpa.us to be placed on a “free agent” list.
