AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Four PA, Sequim players make all-Olympic League baseball first team

SEQUIM — Port Angeles got three players on the baseball all-Olympic League first team, while Sequim’s Connor Bear made the first team.

Making the first team were Roughriders Elijah Flodstrom, infield; John Vaara, designated hitter; and Beckett Jarnagin, outfield. Bear was named as a utility player.

Making the second team were outfielders James Burkhardt of Port Angeles and Rider pitchers Colton Romero and Kole Acker.

Winning sportsmanship awards were Port Angeles’ Michael Soule and Sequim’s Jaxson Gray. JR Ritchie of Bainbridge won the Olympic League Most Valuable Player.

Soccer championship set

PORT ANGELES ­— The stage is set for the Peninsula Soccer League spring championship, as Windermere Real Estate will take on Forks FC at 4:30 p.m. Sunday for the title.

Windermere, led by Ben Schneider (three goals) and Alex Lopez and Maddie Boe (two goals each), finished 5-1-1. Forks FC, led by Hugo Sandoval Jr.’s five goals, three from Saul Sanabria and two from Oscar Gonzalez Jr. also went 5-1-1 in regular season play.

Salazar Painting LLC and Pura Vida and Bandidos each finished 4-3, High Energy Metals 2-1-4, Strait Slice 2-5 and Pantry and Latch 0-1-6.

In Sunday’s other matches, Pantry & Latch will play Strait Slice at noon, HEMI vs. Bandidos FC at 1:30 p.m., and Pura Vida vs. Salazar Painting LLC at 3 p.m.

Pablo Salazar finished as the top goal scorer in the league with seven goals and one assist for Salazar Painting, and teammate Edgar Aceves was right behind with six goals.
