FORKS — Forks’ Erika Williams, who helped lead her volleyball team to a Pacific 2B League championship and to a berth at the state 2B tournament, was named the league’s MVP.
Williams was the setter for the Spartans, who went 8-0 in league and are 14-4 overall. The Spartans finished fourth at the District 4 2B tournament this weekend.
Also making the first team were Spartans Eladia Hernandez-Stansbury and Keana Rowley. Forks’ Chloe Gaydeski, Karee Neel and Fyn Peters made the second team, and Avery Dilley and Bailey Johnson made the honorable mention team.
Forks begins play at the state tournament at the Yakima SunDome on Wednesday.

PA’s Gladfelter fourth

PORTLAND, Ore. — Former Port Angeles cross country and distance runner Jack Gladfelter finished fourth at the Cascade College Conference Cross-Country Championship held Friday in Portland, Ore.
Gladfelter, who now runs for Corban University in Salem, Ore., had a time of 24 minutes, 36.5 seconds in the 8K race on a tough, hilly course at the Rose City Golf Course. He was just 24 seconds off the first-place time and one of only five athletes who finished in under 25 minutes. He also had the top time of all the sophomores in the race.
That qualified him for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Championship on Nov. 22 at Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo. He was also named CCC All-Conference for cross country.
Max Baeder, who was a teammate of Gladfelter’s in Port Angeles, competed for The Evergreen State College and came in 28th with a time of 26:25.4.
