SEQUIM — A day of field cleanup followed later by an old-fashioned spaghetti dinner and a baseball movie under the stars will be hosted Saturday by Sequim Little League.
Field cleanup will begin at 10 a.m. at the Sequim Little League fields, 124 W. Silberhorn Road.
Tasks include painting, cleaning, roof repair, door replacement, landscaping and a few more projects. Those who own weed eaters, shovels, rakes are asked to bring them. No mowing will occur as all grass playing surfaces are under renovation.
Lunch will be provided for those helping with field cleanup.
After the field cleanup, gates will open at 8 p.m. for dinner and a movie with tickets $10 for adults, $5 for ages 12 and younger, $40 per household (limit six people) and free for kids in Sequim Little League uniforms.
Trivia for gift cards donated by 7 Cedars Casino, Laurel Lanes, Dick’s Sporting Goods and more will precede the movie, “Angels in the Outfield,” which will begin at about 9 p.m.
Dinner will include spaghetti, Caesar salad, garlic bread and a drink.
Soccer refs needed
AGNEW — A field clinic for potential youth soccer referees will be held at the Agnew soccer field from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28.
Referees ages 13 and older are in high demand across the state and on the North Olympic Peninsula.
Registration for new referees is a two-step process.
The first step is to take the online course on the Washington State Referee Committee website at WAReferees.org. Click on “I want to be a referee” and follow the directions. The test must be completed by Wednesday, Aug. 25.
Once potential referees have passed the test, then they will sign up for the field clinic.
The U.S. Soccer Federation registration allows referees to officiate games around the state and to register with the Washington Officials Association, which governs high school officials.

West End Thunder
FORKS — West End Thunder drag racing will be held at the Forks Municipal Airport on Saturday and Sunday.
Gates open at 7 a.m. for technical teams and 8:30 a.m. for the general public.
Admission is cash only: $10 for adults and free for 12 and younger.
Entrance fees are $15 for the auto show and shine, $20 for the daily driver class and $40 for all events.
Parking is available at the south end of the track off Russell Road.
All attendees must sign a liability release form and wear a wrist band in plain sight.
A Hot Thunder Nite event, featuring racer burnouts and a cackle car demonstration from nitro-powered vehicles, is set from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the airport.
The last West End Thunder event of the season is Sept. 11-12.
