Fall ball baseball practice Wednesday in Sequim

SEQUIM — Puget Sound Fall Ball, a competitive development league for high school-age baseball players, will begin its second season on the North Olympic Peninsula this month.

A practice session will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Sequim High School baseball fields.

This session is for those who did not attend Monday’s initial meeting at 360 Sports Performance Training.

Matt Acker, co-owner of the new West Coast League team set to debut next year in Port Angeles and a former college head coach, along with Ryan Hickey, the general manager of the new Port Angeles team, and Zach Miller will run the practices and coach the fall ball team.

Practices will be on Wednesday evenings at Sequim High School.

The fall season will begin with a game at Volunteer Field in Port Angeles on Sunday and run through October.

Select softball tryouts

PORT ANGELES — Tryouts for the 2016-17 16U Port Angeles Fast Pitch select softball team will be held at the Lower Elwha Gym, 2851 Lower Elwha Road, from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday.

“We are looking for committed competitive athletes ages 13 to 16-years old that are willing to work hard and have fun,” manager Warren Stevens said.

“We pride ourselves through hard work, being detail oriented and our successes.”

Tryouts postponed

PORT ANGELES — Tryouts for the Olympic Avalanche AAU girls basketball team set for Wednesday, Sept. 7 have been postponed.

A small portion of the Peninsula College gym floor has been damaged, necessitating the postponement.

A later date will be announced soon.
