Spring Fling pickleball coming to Sequim

Sequim Fling pickleball event May 31-June 2

SEQUIM — More than 300 pickleball players are expected to participate in Sequim Fling, a three-day pickleball tournament set May 31 through June 2.

Registration is available through Friday at pickleballtournaments.com.

The tournament will be held at the USA Pickleball Association-sanctioned courts at Carrie Blake Park.

The public is welcome to bring a lawn chair and enjoy the tournament.

Sponsors also are sought for sponsorships ranging from $100 to $800.

Volunteer for NODM

SEQUIM — Sequim and Agnew-area course marshal volunteers are sought for the North Olympic Discovery Marathon on Sunday, June 2.

The task is simple — ensure safe crossing of low-volume side roads by the event participants, through short well-marked crossings.

Positions are available along the Olympic Discovery Trail at Barker Road, Carrie Blake Park, the Carrie Blake Park road detour, E. Fir St. and N. Brown St. in Sequim and Lewis Road.

Volunteers will receive a NODM volunteer T-shirt.

Tranco in tune

PORT ANGELES — Teanna Clark singled, doubled and drove in four RBIs in Tranco’s 13-7 12U majors softball win over Leitz Farms.

Tranco pitchers Tatum Moses and Maryrose Halberg split time on the mound with Moses striking out three and Halberg fanning six batters.

Halberg, Moses, Holly Tietjen and Kenzie Moses all added a hit and RBI for Tranco.

Leitz Farm’s Sophia Ritchie had an RBI triple and Aubrey Hebert added an RBI single.

Reid, Bridget Weed and Hebert all pitched for Leitz Farms with Reid striking out three and Weed and Hebert each tossing one strikeout.

Kiwanis dialed in

PORT ANGELES — Rianne Rodocker went 3 for 4 with two doubles and pitcher Maliah Wilson struck out five as Kiwanis beat KONP 16-5 in 16U softball action.

Jynnafer Lightner went 2 for 3 with a double to left field and Jaeda Elofson added a double for Kiwanis.

KONP’s Mary Cochran went 2 for 3 with a double to left and Grace Possinger went 2 for 3. Possinger also got caught in a pickle on the basepaths between Meadow Robinson and Neveah Selvidge.

Jeannette Dewater struck out six in four innings in the circle for KONP.
