CORVALLIS, Ore. — Despite getting 16 hits and another home run from Dalton Harum, the Lefties couldn’t keep up with the Corvallis Knights in an 11-8 road loss.
Five different Lefties had multiple hits in Friday’s loss and the Lefties outhit Corvallis 16-12, but the Corvallis pitchers didn’t walk a single runner. Lefties’ pitchers couldn’t stop the Knights from scoring as they tallied four runs in the second and three runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
Harum went 3 for 5 with three runs scored and an RBI. Jason Dicochea was 3 for 4 and Trevor Rosenberg 2 for 5 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Evan Pace was 2 for 5 with a run scored and two RBIs, while Kyle Schimpf was 2 for 5 with an RBI.
Baxter Halligan took the loss, giving up seven earned runs in five innings. Relievers Thomas Ruwe and Tyler Tan did their best to keep the Lefties in it, giving up just one earned run over the last three innings, but the Lefties couldn’t overcome an 11-5 deficit after six innings.
The Lefties beat Highline 9-6 Thursday in an exhibition game.
The Lefties played Saturday after press deadline and play again at 3 p.m. today in a getaway game before the West Coast League’s All-Star Game, which will be held Tuesday in Port Angeles.
Notes: With his 3 for 5 game, Harum is now third in the West Coast League with a .354 batting average. His home run, his seventh of the season, puts him in second place in the WCL. Dicochea’s 3 for 4 day left him with a batting average of .392, which would be leading the league if he had enough at-bats to qualify.

Wilder wins again
KIRKLAND — Coming off two straight tournament championships, Wilder continued its winning ways in league play, beating Prep Sportswear on the road 6-1.
Wilder got excellent pitching from Bo Bradow and Johnnie Young in Thursday’s win. Bradow went three innings, giving up two hits and no earned runs while striking out three. Young went the final four innings, giving up four hits, one earned run, walking one and striking out four.
At the plate, Young was a big contributor again, going 3 for 4 with a run scored and two RBIs. Carson Jackson was 2 for 2 with a home run, two runs scored and an RBI, while Gavin Guerrero was 3 for 4 with a double. Ethan Flodstrom was 2 for 4 with a run scored, an RBI and a walk, while Hayden Woods had a double, a walk and a run scored. Bradow had a hit and an RBI.
The win pushes Wilder’s record to 21-3 and 9-0 in the American Legion NW AAA League, tied for first place with 10-1 Lakeside.

PA youth football camp
PORT ANGELES — A youth football camp for players in grades one through eight will be held Monday through Thursday on the lower field at Port Angeles High School.
Camp will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day.
The cost is $55 per player and all proceeds will go to the Port Angeles Booster Club.
Tennis camp canceled
PORT ANGELES — The free tennis camp scheduled to begin Monday at Port Angeles High School has been canceled.
Instructor Gil Stockton is out of town attending to a family matter.
No word is available on whether the camp will be rescheduled.
Youth soccer camp
PORT ANGLES — A youth soccer camp offered by Port Angeles Youth Soccer and Peninsula College will be held Monday through Friday, July 23-27.
Players in the U8 and U9 age range (birth years 2009 and 2010) will attend from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The cost is $35 for U8 and U9.
Players in the U10-U16 age range (2002-2008) will attend from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The cost is $100 for this age group.
The registration deadline is Saturday.

Registration is underway for Sequim Junior Soccer’s fall soccer season at www.sequimjuniorsoccer.com.
Ages range from Little Kickers (birth years Sept. 2014-2015); U5-U6 through U13-U15.
Little Kickers’ registration fee through July 27 is $35, U5-U6 is $45 and U7 and older is $55.
After the July 27 deadline, a $10 late registration fee will be charged.
