AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Coed soccer and women’s basketball leagues forming in Port Angeles; T-ball registration open through Monday

Adult coed soccer league in Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — Registration is underway for an adult coed soccer league run by the Port Angeles Parks and Recreation Department and Peninsula College.

The cost is $55 per player.

Individuals will be placed on teams on an “as needed” basis.

The season begins April 14 and games will be played at Wally Sigmar Field at Peninsula College.

Women’s hoops league

PORT ANGELES — Registration is open through March 29 for a women’s basketball league for ages 16 and older run by the Port Angeles Parks and Recreation Department.

The season will begin in early April and last six weeks.

Games will be held at the Roosevelt Elementary school gym.

The cost is $400 per team.

Players without a team can call or email Dan Estes at 360-417-4557 or destes@cityofpa.us to be placed on a “free agent” list.

Sign up for YMCA T-ball

PORT ANGELES — Registration for T-ball for ages 4 through 6 is open through Monday with the YMCA of Port Angeles.

This eight-week introductory league focuses on skill development, fun and confidence building. Participants learn teamwork, sportsmanship and fundamentals.

The season runs from April 8 through May 29

Teams practice twice a week for the first two weeks on Monday and Wednesday, followed by practices once a week on Monday and games once a week on Wednesday.

Practices are held at Erickson Playfield, 302 Race St., from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The cost is $50 for the public, $40 for YMCA members.
