AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Bridge closure prompts changes to prep schedules

PORT ANGELES — Because of today’s closure of the Hood Canal Bridge, four games in Sequim and Port Angeles have either changed times or dates.

The North Kitsap at Port Angeles soccer and volleyball games that were scheduled for today have been moved to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Meanwhile, Sequim’s soccer and volleyball matches against Olympic were moved up a couple of hours to 4:30 p.m. today.

Soccer results

PORT ANGELES — Forks FC and Los Primos both won, while Windermere and Lincoln Park Grocery tied in Peninsula Soccer League action this week.

Forks FC beat High Energy Metals 5-2. Hugo Sandoval Jr. scored a pair of goals for Forks FC, while Jesus Ayala, Jesus Dominguez and William Ornerno all scored goals. Hector Orozco and Brandon Charters scored for High Energy Metals.

Los Primos beat Pura Vida 5-0. Chris Torres scored a pair of goals, while Juan Salgado, Maya Gentry and Everardo Barrera all scored goals.

Windermere and Lincoln Park Grocery tied 2-2. Isabelle Felton and Josiah Long each scored goals for Windermere, while Zach Gray and Jimmy Quigly scored for Lincoln Park Grocery.

Salazar Painting leads the PSL standings with a record of 2-0-0, while High Energy Metals is 2-1-0 and Lincoln Park Grocery is 1-0-1.

Trail closures

OLYMPIA — Due to significant growth and increase in fire behavior, the Bear Gulch Fire closure area was extended late last week to include the following road and recreation sites:

Roads — Forest Road 2500 at mile post 8. The road is closed beyond Lena Creek Campground; the campground remains open.

Recreation sites — Duckabush Trail starting at mile 5. Hikers must turn around at five-mile camp; the site remains accessible for dispersed camping. Other closed trails include Jefferson Pass, Upper Lena Lake, Putvin trailhead and Hamma Hamma Beaver Pond and Wynoochee Pass trailhead and trail.
