PA BMX track ribbon-cutting, racing reset

PORT ANGELES — Last weekend’s rainy weather has delayed the debut of the renovated Lincoln Park BMX Track.

Practice will be held at the track, located in the southwest corner of Lincoln Park near the intersection of West Lauridsen Boulevard and L Street, today from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Fees are $5 per rider with a maximum amount of $10 per family.

A grand opening ribbon cutting will be held Sunday at 11 a.m.

Racing registration will follow from noon to 1 p.m. with racing following as soon as possible.

Fees are $10 per rider and all riders need to wear a helmet, long sleeves, long pants and closed-toed shoes.

All bikes must have kickstands and pegs removed.

USABMX memberships are $10.

The track also will hold a free new rider clinic for beginners Sunday, May 13.

Registration runs from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and the clinic will follow from 10 a.m. to noon.

The track has a limited amount of bikes and helmets and they will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Participants must be able to ride a peddle bike and bikes must have pegs and kickstands removed.

Summer Classic

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles High School boys basketball team will hold its second annual Roughrider Summer Classic for varsity and junior varsity teams July 20-22.

All high school teams will players eligible to participate in the 2018-19 season are welcomed, no select teams will be accepted.

The tournament has a four-game guarantee and all games will be played at Port Angeles High School.

Games will be played with two 20 minute halves with a running clock. The clock will only be stopped in the final two minutes of the second half.

The entry fee is $250 per team.
