Dual-threat Rodocker

ITTA BENA, Miss. — Former Port Angeles High School and Peninsula College product Paxton Rodocker is pulling double-duty for Mississippi Valley State University.

Rodocker, a junior, committed to the historically black college to play soccer after a successful career at Peninsula College.

She played in 19 games for the Delta Devilettes during the fall soccer season, starting 10, as Mississippi Valley State finished 13-7-2 overall. The Delta Devilettes women’s basketball team suffered a slew of injuries over winter break and the team reached out to the school’s other women’s squads seeking help.

Rodocker, who also played basketball at Port Angeles, answered the call and started to practice with the team and has played in three basketball games as of Feb. 8.

She played 28 minutes in an 84-74 loss to Alabama A&M, knocking down her lone shot on the game, a 3-pointer, and grabbing three steals.

Eagles start 1-1

PORT ANGELES — The Queen of Angels Middle School girls basketball team wrapped its first week of play with a 1-1 record.

Anna Petty led the Eagles with 20 points as Queen of Angels topped Crescent 58-16 in its season opener.

Bella Money added 14 points for the Eagles.

The Loggers were hampered by only having five eligible players. Allison Locke scored all 16 of Crescent’s points.

Neah Bay beat Queen of Angels 39-16 last Thursday.

The Red Devils pressed the Eagles in the first quarter and led 19-9 at halftime.

Neah Bay held Queen of Angels scoreless in the third to widen the gap.

“The Eagles played great man defense forcing Neah Bay to take outside shots,” Queen of Angels coach Barb McFall said.

“Neah Bay controlled the boards at both ends of the floor, however, often getting second and third opportunities to make the score.”

Petty scored eight to lead the Eagles.

In JV play, Neah Bay topped Queen of Angels 29-8.
