Winners of April Fools’ tournament
PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles teams won in the fifth-grade and high school divisions in the Port Angeles April Fools’ Basketball Tournament that featured teams from as far away as Portland, Ore., and Luxembourg (see story above).
The Port Angeles, Fire and Ice fifth-grade girls’ team won its division, beating the Portland Runnin’ Rebels 2 22-21. The Port Angeles White high school team beat Sparta from Luxembourg 56-21.
A younger Sparta of Luxembourg team won the 8th-grade division, beating Port Angeles Green 56-33 in the championship game.
Full standings were:
Girls 5th Grade Division — Port Angeles Fire and Ice, first; Portland Runnin’ Rebels 2, second; Portland Runnin’ Rebels 1, third; Port Angeles Clark Five, fourth.
Boys 8th Grade Division — Sparta (Luxembourg), first; Port Angeles Green, second; Port Angeles White, third; Port Angeles Black Diamond; Venim 253 (Tacoma), fifth; Burlington Tigers, sixth.
Boys High School Division — Port Angeles White, first; Sparta (Luxembourg), second; Port Angeles Green, third; Cascade (Leavenworth), fourth.
