AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: 7 Cedars, Cougars improve to 2-0 in PBL action

PORT ANGELES — 7 Cedars Casino and the Cougars improved to 2-0, and Bayview won a doubleheader to open 2-0 in Peninsula Basketball League play Sunday at Peninsula College.

The 7 Cedars club smashed Brixx 84-32, getting 20 points from Kasey Ulin and 18 each from Dan Horton and Gabriel Long. Chris Waterman and Woody Stangle each had eight for Brixx.

The Cougars got by Girona BC 55-41, as Barry Holland poured in 36 points and Ray Munyagi Jr. added 12. Nil Grau led the PC college soccer men with 20 and Brandon Wagner added seven.

Bayview won a pair of games Sunday, outscoring Fellas 67-49 and Black Diamond Electric 42-31. John Textor and Rickie Porter each scored 15 in the win over the Fellas, who got 13 from Jayson Brocklesby and 11 from Tanner Lunt. In Bayview’s win over Black Diamond, Cody Holden and Porter each had eight, while Devon Kompkoff and Bryant Hoch had 12 each for the electric men.

Rhody Run registration

PORT TOWNSEND — People still have until Wednesday to get reduced prices for the 2024 Jefferson Healthcare Rhody Run 5K and 10K that will be held in Port Townsend on May 19.

The registration fee for the 10K is $30 for adults until midnight Wednesday and $25 for the 5K Rhody Run.

For kids between 6 and 17, the fee is $15 for the 10K and $15 for the 5K.

Registration ends May 15.

The Jefferson Healthcare Rhody Run is organized and produced by the Port Townsend Marathon Association, a charitable non-profit organization whose mission is to foster and encourage runners of all ages, both in the school system and in the community at large.
