7 Cedars claims Peninsula hoops championship
PORT ANGELES — Led by Jim Halberg’s 21 points and 16 from Dan Horton, 7 Cedars Casino topped Black Diamond 83-60 for the Peninsula Basketball League men’s championship last Sunday.
The league is hosted by and serves as a fundraiser for Peninsula College Athletics.
Razor clam digs set
OLYMPIA — March will wrap with six straight days of razor clam digging on morning tides at coastal beaches.
On all open beaches, the daily limit is 15 clams per person. Each digger’s clams must be kept in a separate container, and all diggers must keep the first 15 clams they dig, regardless of size or condition, to prevent waste.
All diggers 15 or older must have an applicable fishing license to harvest razor clams on any beach.

4×4 racing in April
PORT TOWNSEND — The Jeff Co. 4×4 Club will host a weekend of mud drags and tough truck racing April 20-21 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.
Gates will open at 8 a.m. and racing will start at 11 a.m. both days.
Admission is $5, with camping available for $20.
Mud drags will be held April 20 with 4, 6, 8, Open and Kids Quads classes.
Entry fees are $25 per class.
The tough truck competition is open to all and entries are $35.

Pirate Pals starting
PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College will offer a Pirate Pals session for basketball players in grades four through eight from April 7 through May 26.
The once-a-week, hourly sessions will be held at 5 p.m. each Sunday.
The purpose of Pirate Pals is to help players improve their basketball skills and increase their confidence when playing the game. In each Pirate Pals session, basketball drills are designed to improve each player’s individual level of play.
Registration is $200, $150 for returning Pirate Pals and $150 for each additional family member.

Cedars ladies golfers
SEQUIM — The Cedars at Dungeness’ 18-hole Women’s Golf group opened its season with a monthly medal competition on March 5.
Five club members played in the Monthly Medal match with Marine Hirschfeld’s 80 leading the Gross Division.
Hirschfeld birdied the first hole and had the fewest putts (33).
Lisa Ballantyne sank a birdie putt on hole No. 2 to win the Net competition with a 78.
Golfers played Even Steven on March 12, with Bobbie Piety finishing first and Judy Reno second.
Piety birdied the No. 9 and No. 11 holes, earning the closest to the pin prize on No. 11, and also chipped in on No. 12 to run away with the low putt total of 28.
The group plays on Tuesday mornings during golf season.
